Courageous Prayers #4

The Lord is my shepherd: Psalm 23

How many of us have experience with shepherding?

The goal: to acknowledge that Jesus is your Shepherd.

Psalm 23

[1] The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

[2]     He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside still waters.

    [3]     He restores my soul.

He leads me in paths of righteousness

       for his name’s sake.

[4] Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

       I will fear no evil,

    for you are with me;

       your rod and your staff,

       they comfort me.

What are the responsibilities of a shepherd? Care, protection, direction

Why is this a courageous prayer? It requires submission to God’s leadership.

  1. God supplies my needs – v. 1-2

  1. He leads me to restoration – v. 3

Restore: bring back, return to a former place, condition or position.
  1. Following his path brings comfort v. 3-4 2 Whether the path seems good or bad

A good path is the path of righteousness.

A bad path is the one that leads through the valley of the shadow of death.

Will you declare that Jesus is your shepherd?
